The short answer
In YouCam Makeup, skin analysis is one feature inside a makeup try-on and photo editing app. In GoodSkin it is the whole job: 14 named traits plus a Skin Score, an explanation for each, a warning for badly lit photos, and month-by-month tracking, with no account and photos kept off its servers. YouCam Makeup fits if makeup try-on and photo editing are what you are really after.

If skin analysis is what you are after, GoodSkin is the app built for it. YouCam skin analysis is a feature inside YouCam Makeup, Perfect Corp’s virtual makeup and photo editing app: you upload a selfie to its chat-based Beauty Agent and ask it to analyze your skin. GoodSkin is a dedicated skin analysis app. One selfie gives a Skin Score out of 100 and scores for 14 named traits, each with an explanation and recommendations, and the app tracks them over time.
What each app is for
GoodSkin does one thing: it reads your skin from a selfie and helps you track it. You get scores for Skin Age, Acne, Wrinkles, Dark Spots, Pores, Redness, Pigmentation, Glow, Hydration, Oiliness, Face Shape, Bloat, Elasticity, and Texture, plus your skin type and skin tone. There is no makeup try-on or photo editing, because the whole app is about your skin.
YouCam Makeup is an all-in-one beauty camera and editor. Perfect Corp’s product page lists makeup filters and hundreds of looks, a live beauty camera, face retouching and reshaping, hairstyle and hair color try-on, nail and outfit try-on, body editing, and AI image and video generation. Its AI Beauty Agent ties these together in a chat, and that is where skin analysis now lives.
How does YouCam Makeup’s skin analysis work?
According to Perfect Corp’s October 2025 guide, you open YouCam Makeup, find the Beauty Agent on the main page, upload a clear, well-lit selfie, and type or say something like “Analyze my skin”. The analysis scans for indicators such as hydration, smoothness, firmness, spots, and fine lines, and shows how your skin scores across several categories. You can then ask follow-up questions, such as which cleanser suits your skin, and the Beauty Agent can suggest products and routines. Perfect Corp says the skin analysis is free.
The feature has moved over time. A Perfect Corp article from November 2024 described a Skin Score tool covering up to 10 concerns (spots, wrinkles, dark circles, texture, eye bags, redness, oiliness, pores, moisture, and radiance) with a skin diary, and noted that the skin diagnostic was then only available on Android. The current guide says the app is on iOS and Android, and the current App Store description does not list skin analysis as a separate feature. If you are following an older tutorial and cannot find a Skin Score button, look for the Beauty Agent.
How the skin analysis compares
The biggest difference is format. GoodSkin’s analysis is a structured report. Every scan reads the same 14 traits, and each one gets a status (Excellent, Good, Fair, Average, or Needs Improvement), a short explanation, and practical recommendations. A scan confidence rating flags blurry, dark, or badly lit photos. It tells you when to retake the selfie instead of trusting a skewed score. Because the report is the same every time, it is easy to compare one month with the next. You can see what a full report covers on the AI skin analysis page.
YouCam’s analysis is a conversation: you get scores across several categories, then you chat about them, and the Beauty Agent can point you toward products and routines. That is flexible, and handy if you want to jump from a skin question to a makeup look, but it is built around the chat rather than around a consistent report you can track.
Neither app is a medical test. Both are estimating what a phone camera can see, and lighting, makeup, and camera angle all move the results. We explain the limits in how accurate AI skin analysis really is.
Perfect Corp’s business skin analysis is a different product
If you search for “YouCam skin analysis”, you will also find Perfect Corp’s AI Skin Analysis for businesses, which it sells to beauty brands, skincare clinics, and online stores. Its business page says it performs 28+ diagnostics across 16 skin concerns, with HD and live camera modes and an API. That is not the same thing as the analysis in the YouCam Makeup app, and the pages we read do not say which of those business features the Beauty Agent uses, so we have compared only what Perfect Corp describes for the consumer app.
Tracking progress
Tracking is the core of GoodSkin. Scans are grouped by month with your average score, best score, and “potential glow”, and you can compare before-and-after photos, keep a daily scan streak, get a daily skincare tip, and share a score card. With GoodSkin Premium, scans are unlimited.
Perfect Corp says the Beauty Agent lets you track improvements over time, for example after switching moisturizers. Its current guide does not describe a dedicated history screen.
For any app, the most reliable way to track is to scan in the same light at the same time of day, on a bare face, and to judge a new product by your average over 4-8 weeks rather than by a single scan.
Why people choose GoodSkin for skin analysis
- It is a dedicated skin app. The scan is the main feature, not one task inside a makeup editor.
- The same 14 traits every time. A Skin Score plus named trait scores make one month easy to compare with the next.
- A plan for each trait. Every score comes with a status, a short explanation, and practical recommendations.
- It flags bad photos. The scan confidence rating tells you when a result is not worth trusting.
- Private by design. No account, photos are not stored on GoodSkin’s servers, and your history stays on your phone.
Privacy
GoodSkin works without an account. Photos are not stored on GoodSkin’s servers, and your scan history is saved on your phone.
YouCam Makeup’s App Store privacy label lists email address, identifiers, and photos or videos as data linked to you, and location, identifiers, and usage data as data that may be used to track you. Perfect Corp’s own FAQ says the app may collect device identifiers and usage data for analytics and advertising, and your email if you create an account. Its Google Play data safety section says data is encrypted in transit, that no data is shared with third parties, and that you can request deletion.
Pricing
GoodSkin is free to download on the App Store and Google Play. The full report, unlimited scans, and progress tracking are part of GoodSkin Premium, an in-app subscription. Check the store listing in your country for current pricing.
YouCam Makeup is free to download, and its Google Play listing notes that it contains ads. Perfect Corp says Premium unlocks exclusive makeup looks and palettes, removes ads, and gives unlimited access to photo features, with a free trial on yearly plans in some regions. The US App Store lists several monthly and yearly Premium and Pro plans. Check the listing in your country. Perfect Corp says the skin analysis itself is free.
Which should you choose: YouCam Makeup or GoodSkin?
- Choose GoodSkin if you want to understand and track your skin: a consistent trait-by-trait report with a photo quality check, 14 scores you can watch month by month, no account, and photos kept off our servers. For skin analysis, it is the better app.
- Choose YouCam Makeup if what you really want is makeup and hairstyle try-on and photo editing.
- Use both if you like YouCam for makeup but want a dedicated tracker for your skin.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good YouCam Makeup alternative for skin analysis?
If skin analysis is what you want, GoodSkin is built for it: one selfie gives a Skin Score plus 14 named traits with a status and recommendations for each, a scan confidence rating, and monthly tracking. It does not do makeup try-on or photo editing.
Is YouCam Makeup's skin analysis free?
Perfect Corp says YouCam Makeup offers a free AI Skin Analysis through its Beauty Agent. The app itself is free to download with ads, and a Premium subscription unlocks extra makeup looks, removes ads, and gives unlimited access to photo features.
Is YouCam skin analysis accurate?
Perfect Corp describes it as highly accurate in good lighting with clear photos, and says it does not replace a dermatologist. We have not tested it. Like any AI skin scanner, including GoodSkin, it is most useful for comparing scans taken in the same conditions.
Is YouCam Makeup a medical skin analysis app?
No. It is a beauty and photo editing app, and its skin analysis is a cosmetic estimate. GoodSkin is also a cosmetic and educational tool, not a medical device. For a changing mole or a rash that will not settle, see a dermatologist.
