Face analysis for your skin, not your looks.

Tap a zone to see what one face scan reads there, from forehead lines to jawline firmness.

A woman's face divided into six zones a face scan reads: forehead, under-eyes, cheeks, nose, chin, and jawline

Forehead

Lines, shine, and breakouts tend to show here first.

  • WrinklesHorizontal lines and the frown lines between the brows
  • OilinessShine across the top of the T-zone
  • AcneSmall breakouts along the brow and hairline

What a face scan sees, zone by zone

Here is what tends to show up where, and what helps.

  1. Close-up of a forehead with small breakouts near the brows

    Forehead

Forehead lines follow the creases you make when you raise your brows. They are often the first lines to set. The forehead is also the top of the T-zone, where oil glands sit close together. Shine and small breakouts gather here.

  2. Close-up of the skin under the eyes

    Under-eyes

Under-eye puffiness is mostly fluid. It often peaks in the morning and eases as you move around. Salty dinners, alcohol, and short nights make it worse. Lines at the outer corners come from smiling and squinting, and look deeper when skin is dry.

  3. Close-up of a nose with freckles and visible pores

    Nose and T-zone

The nose has some of the most visible pores on the face, and the creases beside it collect oil and blackheads. A salicylic acid cleanser or toner is the usual first step, because it works inside the pore.

  4. Close-up of a cheek with redness and breakout marks

    Cheeks

Cheeks catch the most sun, and dark spots and uneven tone often show here first. They are also where flushing spreads, and where rough texture is easiest to see in side light. Daily sunscreen is the most useful step for this zone.

  5. Close-up of a chin and lower lip

    Chin

Breakouts around the chin and jaw are common in adults and often linked to hormones. Resting your chin on your hands and a grubby phone screen do not help. Deep, painful spots that keep coming back are worth a dermatologist visit.

  6. Close-up of a jawline in profile light

    Jawline

The jawline is where firmness shows as a crisp or softer outline, and where fluid can blur the edge from one day to the next. Its width and angle also help decide your face shape.

Four readings that take the whole face

Some things can't be seen in one patch of skin. These come from outlines, proportions, and how the face holds its shape.

Face shape

Four lines decide your shape

Face shape compares three widths with the length of the face. Measured this way, the face in the map above comes out oval: its length is 1.27 times its cheekbone width, and the jaw is narrower than the forehead.

Puffiness

The reading that moves day to day

Puffiness is read under the eyes and along the jaw. Sleep, salt, and alcohol shift it overnight. Scan around the same hour each day to compare fairly.

Firmness

How the contours hold

Elasticity is read from the cheeks and jaw: how crisp the outline looks, and whether skin starts to soften below it.

Skin age

26

Skin age of the face in the map above. It estimates how old skin looks from lines, firmness, and tone, and the app shows it next to your real age.

A face analyzer that doesn’t rate your face

Plenty of face analysis apps score attractiveness or measure you against a “golden ratio”. Those numbers are fun to see, but there is nothing to do with them. The GoodSkin app reads things you can change, and each reading comes with steps. Curious anyway? The free attractiveness test measures your proportions from one photo.

  • Attractiveness out of 10

Can a face scanner tell my face shape?

Yes. Face shape is one of the 14 traits in every GoodSkin scan. For a quick answer without the app, the free face shape detector compares three widths of your face with its length from one photo, right in your browser.

Can a face analyzer tell my eye color or nose shape?

The GoodSkin app does not: face shape is its only reading of your features, and the rest of the scan is about skin. For those two, the free eye color detector samples each iris from a selfie and the nose shape detector measures your nose from the front, both in your browser. The guides to eye colors and nose shapes explain every type.

Why does my face look puffier in the morning?

Fluid collects in the face while you lie flat, and salt, alcohol, and short sleep add to it. Puffiness often peaks after waking and settles within a few hours. Cold water, a gentle massage, and lighter evenings help. More in the guide to face bloat.

Can a face analyzer guess my age?

GoodSkin estimates skin age: how old your skin looks from its lines, firmness, and tone, shown next to your real age. It describes your skin, not who you are, and it is a number you can work on with sunscreen and a steady routine. See fine lines vs wrinkles.

Should I smile during a face scan?

Keep a relaxed, neutral face. Smiling lifts the cheeks and creases the skin around the eyes, which can read as lines or puffiness. Pull your hair back from your forehead and jaw, look straight at the camera, and hold the phone at eye level.

Does a face analyzer rate how attractive I am?

Some do. The GoodSkin app does not: there is no attractiveness score, golden-ratio match, or ranking in it. It reads skin traits zone by zone, plus face shape, puffiness, firmness, and skin age, and gives steps for each one. If you want a rating, the free attractiveness test scores your proportions and symmetry from one photo, in your browser.
